In typical French style, this furniture is comfortable and extremely elegant in design. Frames tend to be light and refined in shape and are often quite feminine looking. They feature decorative carved motifs, cabriole legs and graceful curves. Often they are finished with gold gilding and sumptuous fabrics.

There is difficulty of workmanship; shaping large timber into refined, curved shaped art then adding small, precisely carved features to enhance specific and prominent areas. The work is signatured by showmanship!

French furniture has a real, stand alone identity. It is pleasing to the eye and might be one piece placed in a corner or hallway, or a feature chair under a window. Such features are like a painting on the wall, a unique piece of art work which draws the eye. Pieces may be gold gilded or painted white and accentuated with the use of elegant, colourful fabrics, often silks.

Small arm pads are frequently used on French chairs as softening adornments or accessories. There is the use of fine V-grooved carvings to border and enhance the French furniture, like a signature and a double-edged sign off to enhance the outer edges.

A French room is strong in colour with a bright, soft, fresh and charming influence. A feeling of grandeur exists, warming you to an emotional feeling of pleasure; just to be there.

The rooms are tall but fine, often with moulded panel features giving an impression of a vertical stretching and elevation. Plush, brightly coloured soft furnishings, window dressings and fabrics highlight and contrast with paint colours, together with opulent gold gilding features, which are frequently used.

French style typifies furniture beauty and elegance, appreciated by all for the fine lines and details.
