Modern Furniture Style
Open, Minimalist, Clean, And Stark
Inspired by many influences the Modern furniture forms are predominantly stark, geometrical and without ornamentation. Some may have a more sculptural approach and tend to make use of the latest technological advances such as moulded plastics, foam padding and lightweight aluminium frames. Leathers or plainer, finer lined textures in textiles are normally used. Metals are usually added to give the piece structural strength, while enabling it to remain fine and open in appearance.
Modern furniture displays the simplest of shapes, curved, vertical, and horizontal, with feature angles. Different elements of structural work are often left exposed and selectively lit as features.
A stark, open feeling is required around the furniture piece, to give it a more architectural and artistic feel.
Colour is important. A bold spectrum of colour may be used to intensify the item. Feature walls of colour are used with abstract paintings as features.
Modern rooms are open, minimalist, clean and stark with a lot of use of the latest architectural design elements

based on my vision, inspiration and
design of furniture and period rooms
and homes.
